Welcome to Dorset Humanists

Dorset Humanists is a welcoming group for humanists, atheists and agnostics who seek to live ethical and fulfilling lives on the basis of reason and humanity. We meet in Bournemouth for informative and enjoyable presentations, debates and discussions on a wide range of subjects including ethics, science, religion, philosophy, politics, our environment and much more. We also organise regular social events.

February Bulletin

DW 6298984 (crop) It's Charles Darwin's 205th birthday this month and we're very much looking forward to our annual Darwin Day celebration at the Bournemouth International Centre on Saturday 8th February. Darwin Day is celebrated by hundreds of humanist groups across the world, and in the United States humanists continue to lobby Congress to officially designate Darwin's birthday as 'Darwin Day'. Our celebration lunch has sold out but you can still join us for Crispian Jago's talk, “How to Point and Laugh at Irrational Nonsense”.  See inside this month's Bulletin for details.

On Darwin Day itself (12th February) you can enjoy yourself in the company of like-minded people at the Bakers Arms in Bournemouth - see inside the bulletin for full details of this popular regular social evening.

The Bulletin is also packed with news about Holocaust Memorial Day, a draconian new anti-gay law in Nigeria, homelessness in the New Forest, and a proposal for us to affiliate to the National Secular Society, as well as the usual roundup of great events.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
Best Wishes,

David Warden
Chair, Dorset Humanists
