Welcome to Dorset Humanists

Dorset Humanists is a welcoming group for humanists, atheists and agnostics who seek to live ethical and fulfilling lives on the basis of reason and humanity. We meet in Bournemouth for informative and enjoyable presentations, debates and discussions on a wide range of subjects including ethics, science, religion, philosophy, politics, our environment and much more. We also organise regular social events.

September Bulletin

DWI felt privileged to join the Major's Procession to the Bournemouth War Memorial at a service to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the war on Japan. Bournemouth's Poet Laureate, James Manlow, reminded us of the 'terrifying peace' which ended the war and the ash cities which remained. Although the service was predominantly Christian I was encouraged by several people who approached me and said it was good to have humanism represented.

In this month's Bulletin we pick up on the theme of 'Humanists for a Better World' by including a piece on how humanists are changing lives in Uganda. You can also find a link to Marilyn Mason's talk on 'Humanists for a Better World' if you missed the event itself.

Our stimulating events programme continues throughout the Summer and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Best wishes,
David Warden
Chair, Dorset Humanists
