Welcome to Dorset Humanists

Dorset Humanists is a welcoming group for humanists, atheists and agnostics who seek to live ethical and fulfilling lives on the basis of reason and humanity. We meet in Bournemouth for informative and enjoyable presentations, debates and discussions on a wide range of subjects including ethics, science, religion, philosophy, politics, our environment and much more. We also organise regular social events.

Walk and Talk in Southampton for World Humanist Day

When:  Sunday, 17 June 2018 3:30 pm

Where: Dancing Man Brewery, Town Quay, Southampton · SO14 2AR

How to find us: Meet at the Former Wool House, I think now called Dancing Man, on the corner of Town Quay and Bugle Street (SO14 2AR)

What: Join humanists from across the south of England in Southampton on Sunday 17th June for an early celebration of World Humanist Day.

Our day will start at the Former Wool House, on the corner of Town Quay and Bugle Street (SO14 2AR), at 3.30pm with a sociable stroll around some of the historic sites of Southampton, a city known for its history as a major port and the departure point for the Titanic.

Following our walk, we’ll convene in a local pub (details coming a little later) to hear from Richard Acton on 'Having More Productive Disagreements’. Richard is a former president of Humanist Students and is currently a PhD candidate researching the epigenomics of human ageing at Southampton University.

After that, attendees are welcome to stay for a meal and/or drinks.

The day will be an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded people from the south of England as we get together to celebrate humanism and our humanist community.

The event is hosted by the South Central England Humanist Network which brings together groups as far apart as Dorset and Brighton to collaborate, share ideas, and represent humanists across the south of England.
