Welcome to Dorset Humanists

Dorset Humanists is a welcoming group for humanists, atheists and agnostics who seek to live ethical and fulfilling lives on the basis of reason and humanity. We meet in Bournemouth for informative and enjoyable presentations, debates and discussions on a wide range of subjects including ethics, science, religion, philosophy, politics, our environment and much more. We also organise regular social events. This website [January 2019] does not include our Short Talks or Walks - see https://www.meetup.com/Dorset-Humanists/ instead.

Assisted Suicide Guidelines - Take action before 16th December 2009

Have your say on assisted suicide guidelines and help support the BHA's campaign for patient choice and dignity at the end of life. The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has issued guidelines clarifying the issues that will be taken into account when deciding whether or not to consent to the prosecution of individuals who assist someone to die, including when people have accompanied friends and family abroad for an assisted death.

These issues are now open for a public consultation period that ends on 16th December, and we strongly recommend that Dorset Humanist members and supporters express their views. Take action now!

Thanks for posting this. I am from campaigns organisation, Dignity in Dying, and we too are asking supporters to respond to the consultation. It is so important this debate is not clouded by an anti-choice minority.

For more information on Dignity in Dying's take on the guidelines and ways to get involved in our campaign please visit:

Thanks, Emily
